I have always had a love-hate relationship with bright colours. If you haven’t already noticed (or read, since I mention it all the time), my outfit choices tend to revolve around my safety palette of white, grey, navy blue, nude and black. However, when I saw this red skirt by Basic Movement, I could not look away. It’s just so pretty, I knew that the moment I had an opening to flaunt it, I would. So a few months back, on the first day of LFW SS16, that is exactly what I did. What I wanted more than anything was for the skirt to be the focal point of my outfit and so I paired it with a simple white shirt, and my everyday leather jacket and boots. Throwing together a bright red skirt and a printed bag isn’t something I would have normally done, but like I always tell my friends, I feel like I was a different human in London. I wasn’t afraid to leave my comfort zone and experiment with different silhouettes, prints and patterns. It’s something I’m still hoping to achieve here, but I’m sure in time I’ll get there.
